East Gippsland 2008

Would you like financial and technical assistance to establish a commercial tree plantation on your property?

Gippsland Private Forestry Inc (GPF) has project funding to assist the establishment by landowners of farm woodlots (plantations) on a limited number of private properties in the East Gippsland Catchment Management Authority (CMA) region for the 2008 planting season.

The purpose of this project is to promote the growing by farmers of tree species that show reasonable promise as commercial wood production species in East Gippsland.

The project is expected to particularly appeal to landowners who are interested in integrating commercial wood production with other existing or planned re-vegetation activities, directed at improving shade and shelter, land protection and biodiversity on their property.

Successful participants will be responsible for the establishment of their plantation and the associated costs, and GPF will provide technical advice and financial assistance of up to $700 per hectare depending on the size of the plantation.

The planted trees will belong to the landowner, who may use the trees for commercial purposes including the sale of wood and other products.

Watch out for an expression of interest advertisement in your local paper in September 2007!
