The purpose of this project is to promote the growing by
farmers of tree species that show reasonable promise as commercial wood
production species in East Gippsland.
The project is expected to particularly
appeal to landowners who are interested in integrating commercial wood
production with other existing or planned re-vegetation activities, directed at
improving shade and shelter, land protection and biodiversity on their property.
Successful participants will be responsible for the
establishment of their plantation and the associated costs, and GPF will provide
technical advice and financial assistance of up to $700 per hectare depending on
the size of the plantation.
