Private forestry is
commercial tree growing of all types and scales on private land.
It embraces tree
growing that falls within a spectrum from industrial scale plantations, through
farm forestry, to Landcare type plantings that have some commercial production
intent.
It includes management of private native forests for timber and many
other values.
Private forestry
invariably delivers both commercial and non-commercial benefits to the forest
owner and the broader community. |
|
Private forestry is undertaken by a wide range
of participants, including forestry companies, MIS investors, farmers and
landowners, utility authorities, and joint venture partners.
Planted forests can
take the form of plantations, woodlots, timberbelts, alleys and wide-spaced
plantings.
Private forestry includes tree growing described as farm forestry or
agroforestry.
